Ask a question:

New Installation on Windows 7, 8 and 10 or Server 2008 and later

Solution

This installation method applies ONLY to standalone installations of HORTICOPIA® Professional  on Windows 7, 8 or 10 and Server installations on Windows Server 2008 or later. For network (Server) installations, you must install Microsoft SQL Server separately before you can run HORTICOPIA Professional. You may download Microsoft SQL Server Express from Microsoft's website.

IF YOU FIRST INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE FROM THE SOFTWARE CD AND TRIED TO RUN HORTICOPIA, perform the following 3 steps  before updating.

  1. Open the HORTICOPIA Control Panel (Start, All Programs, Horticopia Pro V, Horticopia Control Panel)
  2. Click on the Setup tab and then click on "Delete HORTICOPIA Data Folder".   If the Horticopia Control Panel doesn't start or if it hasn't been installed, you can manually delete the Horticopia Data folder. Search for "Horticopia Data" (be sure to include the space between Horticopia and Data). Also, be sure to include hidden folders and files in your search.
  3. Run HORTICOPIA® Professional. Be sure to Run as Administrator the first time.

Windows 7 users should use the zip file (see below) unless you have a third party iso mounting application or wish to burn a CD first.

  1. Download the current software CD image for HORTICOPIA® Professional Version 5.1:
  2. Be sure to save the file somewhere where you can easily find it. The desktop is a good place.
  3. When you start the Setup, you will be prompted for Update or New Install.  New users choose New Install,  existing installations choose Update.

For Windows 8/10 only: When the download is complete, RIGHT-CLICK on V51.iso and select mount. If mount is not available, select Open with.. and then File Explorer. Windows 7 and other users should use the zip file (see below) unless you have a third party iso mounting application or wish to burn a CD first.

  1. If you are using the iso image: The CD Image should open. Double-click on Setup. You can choose Update if HORTICOPIA® Professional is already installed on this computer.
  2. If you are using the zip file: Open the V51.zip compressed folder, and run the Setup. Note that the starting of the setup may take a while because Windows will have to unzip the file first. If you receive an error message, then extract (unzip) the files to a separate folder and run Setup from that folder.
  3. After installation is complete, you must Run as Administrator the first time. To do so, right-click on the HORTICOPIA® Professional icon and select Run as Administrator.

TO OBTAIN SUPPORT ON INSTALLATION, please fill out a support ticket detailing the problems you are experiencing.

If you're having trouble with the iso file, you can also download a zip version of the software CD image:

http://www.horticopia.com/updates/V5/V51.zip

Open the zip folder, then the V51 folder, and run the Setup. Note that the starting of the setup may take a while because Windows will have to unzip the file first.
