SQL Connections with Windows Vista Home Editions Google

 

 

I. Establish whether you have sufficient access privileges

Try to run as an Adminstrator

If the program now starts normally, you have two options:

a. You can always run as Administrator

b. You can turn off User Account Control (UAC) How?

You can run HORTICOPIA Professional with Windows Vista Home only in the user account under which it was installed.

If you require multiple user accounts or wish to run in a different account, you will have to upgrade to a business class version of Windows such as Vista Business or Vista Ultimate.

II. Determine if the SQL database server is running

Use the SQL Server 2005 Configuration Manager to determine if the SQL Server is running. How?

III. Reinitialize database settings

Using the HORTICOPIA Control Panel, reinitialize the database. How?

IV. Check communication with the SQL Server

Using the SQLCMD utility, check to see if communication can be established with the SQL Server 2005 on this computer. How?

V. The Computer Name was changed

If you first installed HORTICOPIA Professional before version 5.0.121 and you change the computer name, you’ll have to modify the connection string as described here .  Set the data source to LOCALHOST\HORTPROSQL.

VI. Turning off User Account Control

  1. On the Start menu, click on Help and Support
  2. Search for User Account Control
  3. Click on How do I change the behavior of the User Account Control message?
  4. Follow the instructions for turning User Account Control off
  5. Be sure to restart Windows for the change to take effect.
