Ask a question:

Why are some of the plant names grayed out?

Solution

Plant taxonomy is a dynamic process and plants are sometimes found with two or more botanical names. In this case, they are referred to as synonyms and are so listed in the plant list and in the name frame of the Information tab in the plant information window. In most cases, HORTICOPIA® Professional uses the Royal Horticulture Society Dictionary as the standard reference for botanical names.

Plant synonyms appear on plant lists in gray text. If you click on a synonym, the cursor will jump to the valid name, which will then be highlighted.
