Background

HORTICOPIA® Professional calls Windows® Application Programming Interface (API), which in turn calls your printer driver to do the actual printing, or to "render your output," as it is often called.  When printer problems occur, they are often the result of out-of-date drivers.

 Analysis

There is a quick way to determine if the problem is with the printer driver. Do a Print Preview of your document and if it looks correct but the printed output is wrong, the problem is with the driver.

If you see pictures missing in the Print Preview, then the most likely cause is a resource problem. This is most often caused by other programs running at the same time as HORTICOPIA® Professional.

Solutions

Printing color pictures places a significant burden on your printer capabilities. Things to do to solve printing problems:

  • Go to the website for your printer manufacturer and download and install the latest drivers.
  • If you're using an HP printer, make sure the toolbox is NOT running.
  • If programs besides HORTICOPIA® Professional are running, close them.
  • If your issue is about print quality, make sure your printer settings for paper, ink, resolution, etc. are set correctly. Printing graphics well does not assure that photographs print well.
