This FAQ topic is intended for users that have a hardware key and wish to use an external drive to bring their personal HORTICOPIA Professional information such as authored plants from one computer to the next.  This would be helpful in that you would not have to "synchronize" your authored plants and such data on all of the computers that you use.

NOTE:  Make sure that when you are disconnecting the external hard drive from a computer that you use the Windows "Safe Hardware Removal".

  1. Launch the HORTICOPIA® Control Panel and enter the Setup tab.
  2. Make sure you have the external drive connected to the computer and click on the Move HORTICOPIA Data Folder to a different location button.  Choose a spot on the drive to keep the Horticopia Data folder.
  3. Before you run Professional on another computer, you will have to launch the HORTICOPIA® Control Panel on that computer.  While you have the external drive connected to that computer, you will need to use the Link HORTICOPIA Data Folder to a different location button to tell the program where to look for the Horticopia Data folder.  Use the button and browse to its location on the external drive.
  4. You MUST use the same drive letter for the external drive on both computers.

You can now run HORTICOPIA Professional.
