| General information about installation and issues associated with installation |
HORTICOPIA® Professional uses a standard Windows® installer and if autorun has been enabled, the installation should begin when you insert the CD. You can also locate and run the file, Setup.exe, on the CD. Disable your virus scanning utility before starting installation. Most virus scanning software will interfere with the HORTICOPIA® Professional installation, so it must be disabled during the install process. When you reboot your computer after installing HORTICOPIA® Professional, your virus scanning will be enabled again. If you cannot disable your virus scanning, please contact the vendor or consult the user guide to determine how to disable it. Other programs Many other programs may also interfere with the installation process. To determine what programs are running on your computer, press Ctrl-Alt-Del on your keyboard. Close any open applications from this window. If a program has interfered with the installation, you will usually get a blue screen and the computer may randomly reboot during the installation. After rebooting, you will not see a HORTICOPIA® Professional icon on your desktop or start menu. Other issues HORTICOPIA® Professional is a large database program that may take longer to install than other programs on your system. Installation speed is based on many factors including drive speed, processor, free hard disk space, and disk fragmentation. Although unusual, we have had reports by some users that it has taken several hours to install an entire set of 6 CDs. Some people have encountered problems because they think that the program has locked up during the install, but this is not usually the case. In general, if the CD/DVD drive light is blinking, there are files being copied to the drive. Only if you have seen no action from the CD/DVD drive for an extended period of time should you manually cancel the installation. If the installation appears to be stuck on a particular file but the CD/DVD light is still blinking, it could be that the screen has just not refreshed. Do not cancel the installation. When the installation completes, you will receive a confirmation message.
