To run HORTICOPIA® Professional Version V on Vista systems, access to the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 needs to be enabled. Depending on the edition of Vista you have, this is accomplished in a different way.

To determine what edition of Vista you are running, go to the Windows Control Panel and then open the System Control Panel. The Windows edition is displayed at the top.

Vista all editions

  • This is the simplest approach -- Run as Administrator.

·        Right-click on the Horticopia Pro icon and select Run as Administrator.

·        When prompted, allow the program to proceed.

  • At present, we believe that you cannot run more than one user account with HORTICIOPIA® Professional V under Vista Home Edition.

·        It must be run in the same account under which it’s installed.

·        You would have to upgrade to Vista Business or Ultimate to use multiple accounts.

Vista Home Edition - Turn off User Account Control

  • This should fix Error 2147467259 when simply double-clicking on the Horticopia Pro icon
  • On the Start menu, click on Help and Support
  • Search for User Account Control
  • Click on How do I change the behavior of the User Account Control message?
  • Follow the instructions for turning User Account Control off
  • Be sure to restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Vista Business and Ultimate Edition - Add Users to SQL Group

  • Again, this should fix Error 2147467259 when simply double-clicking on the Horticopia Pro icon
  • On the Start menu, click on Help and Support
  • Search for Add a user account to a group
  • Click on Add a user account to a group
  • Follow the instructions for getting to the Local Users and Groups display
  • Click on Groups
  • You should see (among others) two groups:
    • SQLServer2005MSFTEUser$ComputerName$HORTPROSQL
    • SQLServer2005MSSQLUser$ComputerName$HORTPROSQL
  • Open each of these groups by double-clicking on them and then use the Add button to add the user accounts that will be running HORTICOPIA Professional
  • You’ll have to log off and back on for these changes to take effect
