Dr. Lyons is a professional photographer whose works have appeared in national and international publications and have earned him two awards from the Garden Writers Association of America. His gorgeous pictures capture the essence of his plant subjects and are an inspiration to gardeners and horticulture professionals alike.

Most recently, Dr. Lyons is the recipient of the 2001 L.C. Chadwick Educators Award.  This award, established in 1976, recognizes outstanding landscape horticulture instructors for their effectiveness in developing students' horticultural skills and motivating them to pursue excellence in their careers, whether in industry or academia.

Dr. Lyons is the Distinguished Professor of Horticulture at North Carolina State and the Director of the JC Raulston Arboretum.  In 1999 he was awarded Outstanding Undergraduate Educator Award by the American Society of Horticultural Science.  See the ASHS website for more information at: www.ashs.org/membership/awards/infopages/career.html
